Following an examination of communications between solicitors and members of Banking & Payments Federation Ireland (BPFI) in relation to residential property, BPFI and the Law Society identified a number of inefficiencies in the procedures used to request title deeds, redemption figures and discharge of a charge. As a result, a streamlined procedure for such requests was developed and launched in tandem with the Property Registration Authority (PRA) eDischarge system.

The procedure was introduced via a standardised form called the Quick Electronic Discharge or QeD.
