BPFI welcome today’s announcement by Google that it is updating its financial services verification process in Ireland. This update will require advertisers promoting financial services to complete a new verification process that will include ensuring they are authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland or other relevant regulators. Advertisers who fail to complete this verification process will no longer be permitted to show financial services ads.
BPFI fully support this important step in tackling fraudulent ads, aligning with our commitment to cross sector collaboration in the fight against financial crime. Google’s latest Ads Safety Report highlights the progress being made in preventing bad actors from placing ads.
As we know, fraud is more complex than ever and constantly evolving. BPFI is committed to working alongside Google and other industry stakeholders to combat fraud and protect consumers and businesses, and we will continue to drive collaboration efforts that safeguard the financial ecosystem.
